Nokia have announced their upcoming plans for improvements on the User Interface of the Symbian OS, and also pushing their first Maemo 6 device.

In 2010, Symbian S60 plans to make better use of its capacitive touchscreen technology, bringing native multi-touch capabilities. The number of taps needed to access features will be reduced dramatically, making it easier to reach music, emails and other services.

More than 350 prompts are going to be removed, which have proved to frustrate many users. Nokia will upgrade from the standard 15fps graphics when scrolling to the impressive 60 fps. The Web browser will also be getting a refresh, where user-friendliness, performance and overall experience will be enhanced.

It is good to see that Nokia have finally realised that there are some problems with the user interface and are now working on resolving them. As well as this renewal of the Symbian UI, Nokia are pushing the first device on Maemo 6 in the second half of 2010.

The Nokia 5530 Illuvial and N97 Mini are just a couple of examples of handsets running on the Symbian OS. These mobile phones have proved popular, especially with Pixie Lott who is the face for the new Illuvial collection, so check out the site to keep up to date with the latest Symbian mobile phones and keep checking the blog to see any further updates on the progression of the makeover for Symbian UI!
