The Nokia X6, Nokia’s first phone to sport a capacitive touchscreen rather than a resistive version, is now available to pre-order at Mobiles.co.uk! Available on O2 and expected in stock towards the end of next week, read on and we’ll remind you what makes the Nokia X6 so special.

Without repeating ourselves, the X6 is Nokia’s first capacitive touchscreen and after a just a couple of minutes use, you really have to wonder why they insist on using a resistive model in other releases. Coming in at 3.2 inches, the display is vibrant and responsive and, covered in a scratch-resistant glass coating, feels great to use. Accompanying the touchscreen are three physical buttons making the X6 the perfect choice for those new to touchscreen mobile phones.

The Xseries is all about Multimedia and as the flagship device in the range, the X6 lives up to it billing with a staggering 16GB of on board memory! Store 1000’s of tracks and hours of video on your X6 and playback using the high quality bundled headphones or stereo speakers built in to the back of the phone. The music player itself is simple to use with various ways to filter your music including by artist, album and genre. Hit play and exit back to the home screen and you’ll see a small shortcut has appeared at the bottom showing the track title and time and letting you pause and skip forward and backwards.

By no means a one-trick-pony, the X6 not only doubles as a portable multimedia player but also a satnav. The X6 comes fully loaded with Nokia’s free Ovi Maps voice guided navigation which gives you free turn-by-turn navigation for use in car and on foot. Added extras include the ability to search for local events and points of interest with Lonely Planet and Michelin listings and the ability to use it abroad completely off-line without incurring any data charges (using the GPS receiver rather than A-GPS which requires a network connection). Oh and did we mention that it’s free? Time to throw out that dusty old Tom Tom and join the Ovi Maps revolution.

The X6 runs the Symbian operating system allowing for multi-tasking and customisation of the menus including creating shortcuts. Push email can be set up as a live widget on the home screen so emails will be delivered straight to your X6 and the phone also features the scrolling contacts bar, as seen in the 5530 and 5230, which lets you add up to 20 of your favourite or most frequently used contacts with accompanying photos and live updates from your favourite social networking sites. As with any self respecting smartphone, the X6 is also accompanied by a whole host of apps which can be downloaded (some free, some chargeable) from Nokia’s Ovi Store. Anything from games, web feeds and social networking apps can be downloaded and installed on the X6.

Elsewhere, the X6 boasts a 5.0 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a dual LED flash and video capture, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth. Available free on a £25 per month tariff on O2, pre-order now and be one of the first to get your hands on the awesome new Nokia X6. Click here to check out some of our fantastic offers.
