First Impressions

At a glance the phone has a sleek and shiny look, its texture is soft and smooth. The 150g weight of the phone is heavy when compared to an average mobile but this is compensated by all of its features. Writing texts, emails, and other writing programs on this touch screen phone is made easy by having four different writing facilities which should suit everyone. These writing facilities include using a keyboard, and hand writing. Each writing facilities is explained clearly and effectively. The buttons that the phone does have are easy to use and are really helpful as they make the phone a lot quicker to use, and they mean that the stylus does not need to be taken out to do minor things with the phone. The search setting on this phone is really useful as it allows you to search through everything on the phone just like on your computer. It also contains loads of helpful information of how to use the phone.

Camera Test

The camera on this phone is good for only a two mega pixel. It has loads of different camera settings and capture modes, such as the burst which captures a sequence of up to 30 photos. The only setback to the capture modes is trying to figure out which capture mode on the phone is which, as in the user manual the icon for each mode is not displayed and only the name of the mode is mentioned. But apart from this the camera is fairly easy to use. The video camera is not as good as the camera function. This is because when recording the video tends to change the brightness, meaning that the camera takes along to time to focus its lighting and becomes overexposed or underexposed depending on the circumstances. When playing the video back as well as seeing the constant change in brightness the picture is also very pixelated and grainy. The 3G video calling function has the same problem.

Living with it

The SPV M700 is the first touch screen phone I have ever used, and I have to say it is a lot better and easier to use than I initially thought it would be. I thought that using a stick to do all the writing on the phone would be time consuming and hard to get the hang of, but in fact it is really easy to get use too. The only setbacks of the phone for me are that due to the phones shiny texture fingerprints from use of the phone can really be seen which makes the phone look dirty.

Conclusions

In general the SPV M700 has everything you would require from a mobile phone and a windows computer combined. It has essential items that your home computer would have like adobe reader, Microsoft excel, word and PowerPoint. Another brilliant setting that the phone has is that you can change the whole phones layout from portrait to landscape, this is really useful for viewing pictures and films, and also for use of applications such as Microsoft office and the Internet Explorer. It also has built in GPS, so when driving the phone can be used to navigate you on your journey.
