Navigon bringing SatNav to Android phones!

While the iPhone is enjoying updates to its excellent Tom Tom app and US Android users have free Google SatNav on their Droid’s (that’s Milestone to you and me) to get them from A to B, European Android fans have been some what left in the dark when it comes to turn by turn navigation. But fear not, Navigon have the solution in the way of a dedicated app that’ll be hitting the Android Market next month.

Compatible with Android smartphones running anything from Android 1.5 to 2.0 (though again, we should be so lucky to get in on the Android 2.0 action over here), Navigon’s SatNav app will be will be available to buy from the 10th of December. No word on pricing yet though Navigon do currently offer a SatNav app for the iPhone which costs £54.99 so expect Android pricing to mirror the app store.

Felt your HTC Hero was missing something to make it the all in one device it’s capable of becoming? Well, perhaps turn by turn navigation is the answer. Be sure to check out the Android Market on the 10th to find out more but for those of you looking to get in on the SatNav action on the cheap, you could be in for a long wait for Google to bring its free voice guided navigation to these shores.
