Sony Ericsson have been busy announcing phones today and the first is confirmation of the AI, or, as it will be known, the w880.

The w880 is an ultra slim handset, weighing in at just 72g and being just 9.5mm thick. Despite this, the w880 is packed with features. The camera on the handset is a 2.0 megapixel offering, and there is also a front facing VGA camera for video calls. There is 10MB of onboard memory which can be expanded up to 2GB with an additional memory card. As with all Sony Ericsson handsets the w880 uses the proprietary Sony memory card standard, in this case memory stick micro (M2).

Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, so you can listen to your favourite songs in stereo Bluetooth withouth the hassle of wires. The screen is 1.8 inch QVGA, 256,000 colour TFT, offering sharp clear images.

The w880 offers the latest version of the Walkman software, which allows you to store album art on the phone, as well as offering a track ID recognition service.

The w880 is a 3G handset, as well as being tri band GSM. Other features include email, Instant Messaging, a picture editor for editing pictures on the phone and straight upload to Blogger.

Battery standby is suggested to be up to 425 hrs, with a talk time of over 6 hours, which is impressive for a 3G phone, let alone one of this size.
