Samsung have announced in a press release this week that the Samsung i8510 will be launched in the UK in early September. Better still, it will be an exclusive launch to the Carphone Warehouse group which means us over at Mobiles.co.uk will be among the first to get our grubby mitts on it! Samsung have also confirmed that the i8510 will be solely branded as the i8510 here in the UK in contrast to the Innov8 moniker it will go under in the rest of Europe. This news will cement the i8510’s place as the first 8.0 Megapixel camera phone to launch in the UK. But if you think that’s all this powerhouse is packing, you’re way off the mark.
The i8510 is a slider style phone in the vein of the Nokia N95 8GB. It has to be said it does feature a much more luxurious build quality thanks to a brushed black metal finish that really gives it a premium feel all over (it was once codenamed the Primera after all!). In terms of features, lets get the obvious one out of the way first; that 8.0 Megapixel camera. The camera reads like a what’s what of digital camera specs; auto focus, flash, face detection, smile and blink detection are all present and it can also record video in QVGA quality at 120fps. But the i8510 isn’t happy with just taking the camera phone crown, Smart phones beware too. The i8510 operates on Symbian OS v9.3, Series 60, features Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS for SatNav software and geo-tagging, 8GB internal memory and a memory card slot, Samsung cert ainly mean business!
Quite frankly this phone looks awesome and I cannot wait for it to launch. Luckily, thanks to this week’s announcement, I won’t have to wait for much longer! To keep updated on the Samsung i8510 click here.
