Nokia Ovi Store advertising campaign launches in the UK!

Apps are big business. We know that. The mobile phone companies know that. And when it comes to mobile phone apps only one name springs to mind; Apple. With their revolutionary iPhone and its hugely successful App Store, Apple transformed the mobile phone application from humble time waster to all conquering juggernaut and one of the key reasons to choose an iPhone over the endless wave of contenders.

Android is catching up, with over 80,000 apps available on the virtual shelves of its Android Market but the gulf between second place and the rest is worrying for the other smartphone operating systems on the market. So much so that Nokia are clearly keen to drive up some customer awareness and let people know that they too have an app store; the Nokia Ovi Store. The following advert currently being aired on TV here in the UK does a great job of showing the huge variety of apps available for Nokia smartphones, from Facebook and Twitter to YouTube and AAA games and should make Nokia owners aware that they to have access to an ever growing selection of apps.

The campaign should also act as a wake up call to app developers; Nokia aren’t content with being an also-ran in the mobile App space are are taking the fight to Apple and Android. This kind of advertising helps cement their dedication to the Ovi Store and should encourage app developers to hop on the Ovi bandwagon.
