Nokia Lumia 920 stands out as Windows Phone to beat

Nokia Lumia 920 UK release

Nokia are back with their latest Lumia smartphone. Preloaded with the upcoming Windows Phone 8 operating system, the Nokia Lumia 920 mobile phone is their strongest device yet to take on the might of Android and iOS. Which Nokia Lumia 920 features impress?

Design Overview

With a 4.5 inch screen, the Lumia 920 offers a slightly larger display than its 900 predecessor by 0.2 inches. Built with a PureMotion HD+ display, Nokia claim their latest flagship to be “the world’s brightest, clearest, fastest touch screen.” It even reacts to your fingertips when their covered by gloves. The screen tone and brightness automatically react to the surrounding light to ensure you always see the best picture on your smartphone whilst conserving battery life.

The new Lumia 920 handset is hard to miss. The bright yellow Nokia Lumia 920 colour scheme will fixate eyes and turn heads as you walk down the high street. Coming soon in White, Red, Grey and Black, the Lumia 920 maintains the tough polycarbonate outer shell as used previously in the Nokia Lumia 800 and 900. The great feature about this material is that scratches won’t peel away the Wow Factor colours from your Lumia smartphone.

Windows Phone 8

Running Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the first devices to utilise the latest OS from Microsoft. The favoured tile system receives a healthy update of customisable sizes whilst maintaining the attention grabbing design. With auto updating tiles bringing you the latest information, your Nokia Lumia 920 becomes a mosaic of essential activity.

With NFC integrated into the Lumia 920, can take advantage of the WP8’s latest feature to transact mobile payments. Find out more info in our Windows Phone 8 features review.

Nokia Lumia 920 - Wireless Charger

Wireless Charging

The Nokia Lumia 920 charges wirelessly. This is great news if you want to continue using your handset wire-free whilst charging it. The Nokia wireless charging stand DT-910 comes with the Lumia 920 in matching colours to keep you fashionable. It’s shaped like a computer mouse and looks like a great accessory to use. Should you want more stylish ways to charge your phone, Nokia demonstrated a Fatboy Recharge Pillow, where laying the smartphone onto the pillow charges up the device. We’re unsure of the range or charging time the wireless stand needs to operate but Nokia appear to have successful in promoting wireless charging in a fun and unique style.

Nokia Lumia 920 Camera Features

Built with prestigious Carl Zeiss optics, you know you’re getting a good camera with the Nokia Lumia 920. The PureView camera phone delivers blur-free videos even against the tyranny of camera shakes and low light conditions. Recording 1080p video is effortless and can even be transferred wirelessly to DLNA certified TV’s; great for showcasing your latest antics to friends on the big screen.

The secondary camera lets you video call in high definition with its 720p quality. Another great feature for the Nokia Lumia 920.

UK Lumia 920 Release Date

Though no release date was specified during the announcement, Windows Phone 8 officially launches in October, so expect the Lumia 920 to hit the shelves when WP 8 is full steam ahead. The Lumia 800 handset was previously released in November, so Nokia may be planning a release date within that month. With so many other Windows Phone 8 handsets such as the ATIV S and HTC X8 due for 2012 release, we expect Nokia will want to race ahead of the competition to capture maximum market share. Our best guess is the Nokia Lumia 920 will arrive for UK sale in October.

In the meantime we have some great Windows Phone 7.5 deals available from Mobiles.co.uk.
