My Nokia 6230i’s battery exploded when it was charging. I was out at the time and when I came in I could smell burning to find my mobile phone half melted and a hole burnt in my sofa. If it hadn’t been for fire retardancy on a quality sofa my home could have gone up in flames. Whats this about no damage reported in the 100 cases worldwide? Obviously this is not the case…
Has Nokia dealt with these complaints? Has there been any compensation for the damage in Emmett’s home?
I have experienced pretty bad customer service since reporting incident last week. I had the phone put down on me purely due to me asking the ‘customer service representative’ to slow down and not be so abrupt with me.
Consequently, I have had a message left from Nokia asking when they can arrange to collect damaged mobile phone…no questions, no discussion regarding what happened or what damage has been incurred??
I will not be letting my melted mobile phone go anywhere until I have someone from Nolia consider what will be done about the damage caused in my home.
Any comments from anyone??

Yes some batteries are faulty and could potentially be very dangerous. I have been in contact with BBC Watchdog and they have expressed an interest in investigating the incident further as it seems they have received contact from other people about Nokia batteries.

I understand Watchdog gave a free phone number to ring for a replacement battery.
Do you have this number?
