So you have heard about the new Windows Mobile 6.5 which will be released on October 6th, and you have seen some of the handsets which will be running on the new system. But there seems to be one manufacturer who has been missing…
Three new handsets are to be released by LG, the third biggest mobile phone manufacturer globally. These mobiles will be operating on the latest Windows 6.5 platform, and will be the first handsets brought to you by LG to ever run on the new operating system. There has been no information at present about what these handsets are going to feature or even look like, but if they are to follow in the footsteps of previous LG mobile phones such as the Viewty Smart, then they are bound to be very popular.
A deal was made early on this year between LG and Microsoft, meaning Windows mobile will be the main platform for all of LG’s future smart phones.
The plan for LG is to launch 13 new handsets running on Windows Mobile 6.5 by the end of next year, which will include the three being launched early October of this year.
The main advantage of Windows for mobiles is the ease of use with the internet. With popularity of social networking and other mobile entertainment increasing, it is important that up and coming handsets all include these crucial features.
Other features which users can benefit from include the ‘My Phone’ where you can sync text messages, photos, videos and more to the web, and the Windows Marketplace for Mobiles, where you can access applications which can be used from both your phone and your PC. The home page has also been designed to ensure users are kept up to date with important information, by providing a dashboard like experience to information like new e-mails, texts and missed calls.
Who is the main competition for Windows Mobile? Symbian is the main competitor which is used by Nokia for their range of mobile phones, including the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and E71. Symbian OS accounts for two-thirds of smart phones globally. Microsoft is hoping their new operating system will help to compete more effectively with the Symbian, and it will no doubt be a very big boost for LG.
There is a lot to experience with the new Windows Mobile 6.5, so keep checking on the blogs to find more information about the coming soon handsets from LG, or have a look at current LG mobile phones on offer by clicking here and check the good deals available.
