It seems like only yesterday that the HTC Wildfire, HTC’s baby brother to the Desire, was announced and presented to the world (it was actually Monday) but now HTC’s next big Android offering is available to pre-order at Mobiles.co.uk. The HTC Wildfire bears a striking resemblance to its bigger brother and these similarities carry through to the inside as well. The Wildfire runs the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, version 2.1 for those still keeping count, and marries this with HTC’s own Sense user interface which adds to the number of home screens and offers some handy pre-installed widgets. The Wildfire is all about social networking so it should come as no surprise that the phone plays nicely with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, pulling in live updates to a dedicated app, known as Friend Stream, and updating other areas of the phone such as pulling in Facebook profile pics for your address book.

The Wildfire also marks the debut of HTC’s new App Sharing widget which does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Found an app that you can’t put down? With the Android Market recently passing the 50k mark, an App recommending feature could be just what the doctor ordered.

Away from the software, the Wildfire is fully equipped with a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen with support for multi-touch, a 5.0 Megapixel camera with a dedicated camera flash, HSDPA and Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, expandable memory and more. It’s hard to see exactly how this is a mini Desire at all with the exception of the more compact form factor.
