HTC HD2: Available to Pre-order Now!November 4, 2009 at 12:07 pm by Mark | In Coming Soon Handsets, Mobile News, New Mobile PhonesWe’ve been a little quiet in the last week or so with regard to handsets hitting the site, but if there’s a phone worthy of making up for it, surely this is it? This is the HTC HD2, and i know what your probably thinking; yes, this is the long awaited Leo we’ve heard so much about through the rumour mill. For those that didn’t see our previous posts, here’s a little re-cap. The HD2 incorporates the biggest screen found on any phone currently on the market, a whopping 4.3 inches! That’s even bigger than the screen found in the Toshiba TG01, but don’t think for a minute that this phone is just HTC flexing some muscle to kick it to Toshiba. The 4.3 inch screen is a capacitive unit, meaning full multi-touch technology allowing you to pinch and zoom until your hearts content. The capacitive nature of the phone complements Sense UI perfectly; HTC’s in-house developed interface (draped over Windows Mobile 6.5) which we have to say is exquisite on the Hero, and quite possibly best of all, the Leo/HD2 incorporates Qualcomm’s SnapDragon processor offering 1Ghz of processing power; meaning this phone will multi-task like a desktop PC! Still not impressed? Well how about all this plus an accelerometer, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD support, HSDPA, Wi-fi and a 5.0 megapixel camera with LED flash and Autofocus to boot? That is enough to tempt even the most devote iPhone fanboys (or girls). In case you missed it in the title, the HD2 is now available to Pre-Order here at mobiles.co.uk, you’ll also find more information, full specs and more importantly, the best deals by clicking here. Expected to launch in just over a week, keep an eye on the Blog for all the latest updates. Bookmark at:StumbleUpon | Digg | Del.icio.us | Dzone | Newsvine | Spurl | Simpy | Furl | Reddit | Yahoo! OK, so when will you have this in stock?
Comment by William — 12 November, 2009 #
@William - Apologies for the delay, originally we had hoped for the phone to launch this week but this has been delayed. We’re now hopefully expecting the HD2 to launch mid next week, keep an eye on the blog and we’ll update you as soon as we know more.
Comment by Dan — 13 November, 2009 #
Can’t wait - feel like a kid on the run up to Christmas!
Comment by William — 16 November, 2009 #
I called today and was informed they will be available for dispatch tomorrow. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?
Comment by James — 16 November, 2009 #
@James - Apologies if you were misinformed but no stock arrival date as of yet, we’re chasing this up and should be able to give you an update in the next couple of days.
Comment by Dan — 16 November, 2009 #
@William - still trying to nail down a concrete delivery date but we’ll update you (via the blog) as soon as we know more. Rest assured though, it’s well worth the wait
Comment by Dan — 16 November, 2009 #
you’re offering it on O2 on your website. how is the internet access sorted? one of the o2 packages is called o2 600 Data - unlimited data usage. still when you look up the info just next to it - it says there’s 1 pound daily data cap and 3 pound per MB. which one is right?
Comment by konrad — 16 November, 2009 #
@Konrad - the info you’re referring to is for standard O2 tariffs minus the data bundle. For the O2 600 Data tariff, these caps do not apply as the tariff includes unlimited data as part of the bundle.

Just out of curiosity, where has the supply chain broken down? Not enough handsets produced? Not enough allocated to UK? Has Vodafone pulled a fast one to get early exclusivity?
Comment by Andy C — 17 November, 2009 #
@Andy - there have been delays in gaining full network approval to sell this device. We’re working hard to get everything in place as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
Comment by Dan — 17 November, 2009 #
No problem - I’m well acquainted with being at the mercy of higher powers
Comment by Andy C — 17 November, 2009 #
i contacted the Order Processing Team by email. They have emailed back saying “We have received it and allocated it ticket number” what does this mean. This is regarding the htc touch hd2.
Comment by Greg — 17 November, 2009 #
@Greg - Our emailing system will assign each email a ticket number so that for future correspondence you can quote this reference number. This is just an automated response but a member of the team should respond to your email asap.
Comment by Dan — 17 November, 2009 #
@konrad: By the way, if you want unlimited web on O2 the cheaper option is to go for the 600/Unlimited Texts promo deal, then contact O2 on the day you get your phone and ask them to change the unlimited text bolt-on for unlimited web. I have this in writing from O2.
Comment by Andy C — 17 November, 2009 #
With regard to those “Unlimited” data packages - which provider is the most “Unlimited” (as in least limited by fair use policy)?
Comment by William — 17 November, 2009 #
I received this email today from the order processing team:
Hello,
The phone you have ordered is currently a pre-order handset, we are expecting them to come into stock this week.
–
Regards,
Order.Processing@mobiles.co.uk
So hopefully it will be here soon!
Comment by James — 17 November, 2009 #
Hey also wondering if i go for the vodafone deal for £25pm, does that include unlimited internet just wondering due to that thing last year where vodafone gave unlinited web to all contracts with them. cheers
Comment by James — 18 November, 2009 #
I placed an order for the HD2 on Wednesday 11 November. After enquiring about its whereabouts I received an email from the order processing team yesterday stating that: “The phone you have ordered is currently a pre-order handset, we are expecting them to come into stock this week.” So fingers crossed it will arrive soon.
Comment by James — 18 November, 2009 #
@James - the latest information we have is that due to ongoing problems getting network approval in place, stock has now been pushed back to next week. Apologies again for the delay and thanks for your patience.
In regards to your tariff question, to get the internet bundle you’ll need to choose a tariff with the Mobile Internet tariff (look for “+ Mobile Internet” in the tariff column).
Comment by Dan — 18 November, 2009 #
Weirdly, Vodafone have them in-store and available right now - except of course their in-store tariffs are awful. Best they would do for me was £150 for the handset, then £30pm for 300 minutes plus web, a grand total of £170 more and 300 minutes per month less than the O2 deal via Mobiles.co.uk
Comment by Andy C — 18 November, 2009 #
@Andy C - You’re right, Vodafone do have them in store but these will be the network locked variants with Vodafone branding. The stock we’ll be getting in is unlocked and unbranded but because of this we have to get each network to approve the generic version. Trust me when i say it will be worth the wait (not just the improved deal but also the unlocked handset, exactly as HTC intended it without any interference from the networks). Sorry again for the delay guys and hope to have some more concrete information within the next 24 hours.
Comment by Dan — 18 November, 2009 #
@Dan - So have you anyore information Dan?
I see you are selling on o2 but I see you have stock on O2 but I want Vodafone!
Comment by Sarah — 19 November, 2009 #
Ha…. cancel that. Wrong website and have all gone now anyway!
But still when is stock liekly to be in?
Comment by Sarah — 19 November, 2009 #
@Sarah: I don’t think stock is necessarily the issue. It’s entirely possible Mobiles.co.uk have handsets in stock, but have to sit on them until O2/Vodafone etc say “Ok, we’re going to let you sell this phone for use on our network”.
Comment by Andy C — 19 November, 2009 #
@Dan: Do you have an update on the situation?
Comment by James — 19 November, 2009 #
Sorry for the delay. Right, the update is that the device will be approved for sale on the 27th of November (next Friday). We are still working to get this pushed forward but the latest orders should be shipped out is next Friday (for Saturday/ Monday delivery).Apologies again for the delays, as some as you have already commented, we are at the mercy of the networks when trying to get them to approve a generic (unlocked/unbranded) handset. All those who have (or are planning to) pre-ordered the phone will be sent a free in-car charger, our way of showing our appreciation for your patience.
Comment by Dan — 19 November, 2009 #
So….. are we still looking like Friday at present?
Comment by Sarah — 23 November, 2009 #
@Sarah: Yes, currently the HD2 launch is still set for Friday but we’re still hopeful we can get this moved forward. Rest assured i’ll keep you updated as soon as i hear more.
Comment by Dan — 23 November, 2009 #
can’t….hold….breath…much….longer
Comment by Andy C — 27 November, 2009 #
Hi, I ordered the HTC HD2 today (27th) but it still says pre-order only. Do you have them in stock or hasn’t the web-site been up-dated yet?
Comment by Peter — 27 November, 2009 #
@Andy C…… I feel for you!!
Order status hasn’t updated yet….c’mon peeps….. we’re dying here !!!
Comment by Sarah — 27 November, 2009 #
Should I have had a mail by now? I guess I’m not getting the 1st batch
Comment by Geoff Collins — 27 November, 2009 #
This is feeling more and more like an embarrassed silence…
Comment by Andy C — 27 November, 2009 #
All: Apologies for slow response, i can confirm that we do have stock and are currently working through and despatching orders. You should receive an email to confirm your HD2 has been despatched later on this afternoon! Thanks for your patience.
Comment by Dan — 27 November, 2009 #
4.10pm and still nothing….. does that mean there not getting dispatched today as nothing has updated on my order from the 20th?
Comment by Sarah — 27 November, 2009 #
Woohoo!
Comment by Geoff Collins — 27 November, 2009 #
Yay!
Comment by Andy C — 27 November, 2009 #
Woohoo…. just updated and received and email saying it has been sent to the warehouse for dispatch!!!
Comment by Sarah — 27 November, 2009 #
Ditto
Comment by Geoff Collins — 27 November, 2009 #
Noticed it says Royal Mail Special Delivery - Despatched Tomo. Does this mean it won;t be here until Monday at a guess?
Comment by Sarah Precious — 27 November, 2009 #
No such luck here; ah well. Sarah did well getting her order from the 20th sent out; I ordered mine a month ago!
Comment by Andy C — 28 November, 2009 #
@ Andy C - If you ask O2 to swap the Unlimited Texts bolt-on for Unlimited Data on the 600/Unlimited Texts promo deal, how many texts do you then have available to use? I am eager to get my hands on this lurvly phone
Comment by Zoe — 29 November, 2009 #
@Zoe - not sure. I don’t text much, so I didn’t bother to check. Based on the tariffs offered on the O2 site, it’s probably either 500 or 1000.
Comment by Andy C — 30 November, 2009 #
What ever happend to the free car charger?
Comment by William — 6 December, 2009 #
@William - Apologies for the delay, we ran out of stock of the car chargers due to the overwhelming demand for the phone. We took the decision to send the phone first and send the freebie separately rather than delay the whole order which i’m sure you can appreciate :)! Chargers are back in stock today so should be going out to anyone missing one in due course.
Comment by Dan — 7 December, 2009 #
Just to clarify the situation. Are these phones totally 100% unlocked versions? If so can we upgrade the phone by using the HTC firmware and their software release patterns rather than waiting for our network provider to create the messed up firmware?
If they really are unlocked i will be ordering one tomorrow.
Comment by Peter — 6 February, 2010 #
@Peter: Yep, i can confirm the HTC HD2 we sell is completely unlocked, free to update as and when you please directly from HTC! Click here to check out our HTC HD2 offers…
Comment by Dan — 8 February, 2010 #
Perfect, I’m ordering one right now.
Comment by Peter — 8 February, 2010 #
