UK university releases its own iPhone App!

Want to know your way round your new uni, find out about the best clubs and pubs and all the latest news from around campus? There’s an App for that. In the past we’ve seen all sorts of weird and wonderful Apps released on Apple’s beloved App store but in case you needed any more proof that Apps really have hit the mainstream, read on.

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has released a free app aimed at welcoming new arrivals to its hallowed halls. The application, available for download now in the App store, promises to keep students up to date with the latest news and events from around campus, book tickets for upcoming events, help them find their way around town and locate specific services. The App also provides a floor plan of the library and also lets users login to UCLan email accounts to check and send emails.

No word yet on whether the iPhone App wil let you arrange booze-ups, locate the nearest kebab shop or provide excuses for missed assignments but it’s surely just a matter of time before these features are included! Available free from the App store, it’s certainly refreshing to see old establishments embracing new technology.
