Sony Xperia budget smartphones for 2012

Sony Xperia Miro - budget smartphones for 2012

Meet the new affordable Android mobile phone range from Sony. Here we compare the new Sony Xperia tipo, Sony Xperia Go and Sony Xperia miro. Don’t be fooled by their affordability though; the new range of Xperia budget smartphones pack a range of features from water and dust resistance to dual core processors. All three of these smartphones are compact and light weight with the heaviest weighing in at only 110g.

Display

The Sony Xperia tipo sports a 3.2 touchscreen whilst the Sony Xperia Go and Miro have a slightly larger 3.5 inch touchscreen displays; all with a scratch resistant coating. This is the same size as the Sony Xperia U released earlier this year. For those who spend too much time in the sunshine, the Sony Xperia miro uses an anti-reflection coating to help you keep your game on when under bright light. Should you spend too much time in the rain, the Sony Xperia Go with its water and dust resistant coating, gives you extra durability against the elements.

Camera

As smartphones replace our need to carry a camera device around, it’s essential to have a decent smartphone that can capture those special moments in the quality they deserve. All three of these Xperia budget smartphones have pretty decent cameras considering their affordability. The Sony Xperia tipo features a 3.2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and video recording which is perfect for the casual snapper.

Sony Xperia Go - budget smartphones for 2012

Between the Xperia Go and miro, the Go has slightly better camera features. Both the Go and the Miro have a modest 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and auto focus. The Go really pinpoints our attention with its 16x digital zoom against the miro’s 4x offering. The Go even offers HD video recording and 3D Sweep Panorama; taking several pictures which then automatically get stitched together to create one wide angled photo in 3D.

Under the hood

All three budget smartphones run on the Android operating system. The Xperia tipo and miro use 2012’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich update and the Xperia Go is currently running Android Gingerbread which is upgradable to ICS.

With a powerful 1GHz dual core processor, the Xperia Go really sprints into the fast lane as you download and multitask apps and multimedia in an instant. There are 800MHz processors powering the Xperia miro and tipo. How do these handsets compare to the Sony Xperia P, U and S?
