Whilst the original BlackBerry Storm was almost universally panned, its succesor (the innovatively named Storm2) righted many of its wrongs with an improved touchscreen display and the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity. And now, courtesy of the guys and gals at Engadget, we have a sneak peak of what looks like the next in the Storm line; the BlackBerry Storm3.
Coming by way of an anonymous tipster and a blurry shot of what looks to be a training slide for one of BlackBerry’s US network partners, the Storm3 looks to be more evolution than revolution. From it we can make out a picture of the device (sticking firmly to the design foundations laid out by Storm’s 1 and 2) and at the bottom an “…ember” release date which does narrow things down significantly to the end of this year (unless RIM are planning way in advance for next year!).
From the specs, the Storm3 will feature BlackBerry’s all new BlackBerry 6 OS, optimised for touchscreen devices, a new Webkit browser, a whopping 512MB of RAM ad 32GB expandable memory, a 5 Megapixel camera (up from the originals 3.15) and Mobile Hotspot which transforms your phone into a Wi-Fi Modem (ala’ the HTC HD2). No word on pricing or availability but with both this, the upcoming Curve refresh and rumours of a slide BlackBerry, it could be a busy end of year from BlackBerry.
