No we’re not blogging about the hit film of six unemployed Sheffield steel workers. The Full Monty is T-Mobiles latest tariff table which exposes you to everything; unlimited calls, texts AND data, starting at £36 per month.

As a smartphone generation we are now guzzling deeper into our tariff allowances, requiring more data for downloading games or streaming our favourite songs. Even that push Tweet notification will peck a byte or two from your data allowance. T-Mobile state that their Full Monty tariffs aim to “truly blow their customers socks off” by offering an enticing bargain that’s impossible to refuse.

The Full Monty will dance its way onto your smartphone from just £36 per month, offering unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 2000 minutes (that’s still nearly a day and a half of calls!). At just £41 per month, you can leave that cap off, as even the minutes have no limit. The additional tariffs of £46 or £61 per month, offer the same unlimited package but with a range of better smartphones and access to more gifts. Through mobiles.co.uk, you can get your hands on the iPhone 4S for free from £41 per month with unlimited EVERYTHING.

How does this compare to the One Plan from Three?
The £36 per month Full Monty deal directly tackles the One Plan from Three; which for £35 per month serves up 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and All You Can Eat data without the fair usage cap. One feature Full Monty provides over the One Plan is the option to tether your smartphone to your laptop or tablet. Tethering enables you to set your smartphone up as a Wi-Fi hotspot so your laptop can connect to the online world. With unlimited data available in the Full Monty package, could this deal tease customers into using a mobile internet connection over home broadband? T-Mobile’s latest offer could be a game changer in the way we purchase our data. Let’s hope the other networks respond with competitive deals in due course.

Greater clarity on choosing your Tariff
If you feel like you don’t need unlimited everything, then T-Mobile are renaming their data tariffs to cater for internet usage. There are four categories; Basic, Standard, Extra, and Super. Basic Intenet is ideal for those who don’t really use it except for the odd email or Facebook post. Standard Internet lets you cover a little YouTube comedy and is set for your low usage smartphone user. Extra internet is great for those who download lots of apps or stream BBC iPlayer and Super Internet is for the online addicts amongst us. Both Extra and Super internet let you tether.

So for those who want it all plus a little bit more, the unveiling of the Full Monty looks set to catch the attention of many.

See the best deals that come loaded with the Full Monty package.

Ok, time for a little shameful self promotion!

It’s fair to say the Google Nexus S hasn’t set the world alight, but why is this? The handset is an outstanding example of beautiful design, the hardware is as up to date as any other Android devices currently available especially the Samsung Galaxy S and unlike the Nexus One, Google’s latest variant of the Nexus does have some major advantages over it’s competition.

The Pure Google software experience means there is no manufacturer presence on the OS and shows exactly how great the Android operating systems is. Also running full Gingerbread 2.3, the Nexus S really does sit on the cutting edge of mobile OS.

With this in mind the Nexus S has generally seen less sales then it’s non-identical twin the Galaxy S. So why is this? We believe the answer is deal strength. However as of today the Nexus S gets the offers it deserves.

Mobiles.co.uk now has the Google Nexus S free on tariffs from as low as £25.54 per month! Here’s a list of the best tariffs and discounts we offer.

Orange

£25.54 per month. This gives you 300 Minutes, unlimited texts and 500 MB of data. With this tariff you can just enjoy the handset with no more work to do at all. Click here for the best deals Nexus S.

O2

If 300 minutes isn’t enough you can get the Nexus S with 900 Minutes, Unlimited texts and 6 months free line rental giving you an effective cost of £26.80 per month. This requires some redemption work but well worth it!

T-mobile

You may have noticed the O2 Tariff might not suit your data needs so if you want it all T-mobile is definitely the network for you. 900 Minutes 500 texts and unlimited web browsing with an effective monthly cost of 26.81 per month. This is including 6 months half price line rental through redemption. This saves you an £210 versus our previous offer on this tariff.

To see why Google think the Nexus S is worth the investment click here.

These offers are available now! We think hope you’ll agree that these discounts combined with one of the slickest Android handsets should tick all the boxes and then some. Click here to see our full range of tariffs and discounts for the Nexus S and keep checking the blog for updates on anything mobile.

It was said back then that Orange would be launching the service around Europe in ‘late 2010′ and bang on schedule, Orange have announced that the roll out of the service across the UK will be beginning today; the first day of the last quarter of 2010.

What exactly are HD Voice calls? Well, technically speaking the HD Voice calls are the product of the new Adaptive Multi Rate – Wide Band (AMR-WB) codec which takes advantage of a greater bandwidth made available by a 3G network. In laymens terms, HD Voice calls are essentially higher quality calls that sounds crisper and are naturally better at filtering out background noise. The easiest way to demonstrate the difference between current voice and HD Voice would be to compare to FM Radio and DAB Radio, admittedly the technologies are quite different, but the end effect is pretty similar in that there is quite clearly an audible difference between the two.

Now, before you start dialing your mate to test the new HD Voice calling there is one (quite large) proviso, it only works on a handful of handsets currently (the handsets listed by Orange are the Nokia 5230, X6 and E5 as well as the Samsung Omnia Pro) and what’s worse, current owners will not be getting a software update to allow the HD Voice calling despite the fact that no extra hardware is involved. Orange have really dangled it out there on a stick, tempting all of their customers and then proceeding to move it just out of reach, unless they’re willing to buy a new phone. Whether or not Orange choose to change their stance on this remains to be seen and we hope they do, they’re potentially sitting on a revolutionary technology here and undoubtedly other networks will be hot on their heels. When this was first announced, there was much speculation as to whether they’d operate as two separate brands or whether they’d become one merged brand and adopt a new name (T-Orange?)

The rumours and speculation have now been laid to rest as T-Mobile and Orange have officially announced their new moniker: Everything Everywhere. Yeah, that’s right, Everything Everywhere. Tom Alexander, Chief Executive of the newly merged company had this to say:

“The formal integration of our new company, Everything Everywhere Limited, is another major milestone and reflects the rapid progress we have made over the past nine months”.

“Today we have created the country’s biggest communications company, and as the new leader in the industry, it is our aspiration to give our customers instant access to the world around them, to everything everywhere, through both of our brands, Orange and T-Mobile”.

Through it’s two brands, Everything Everywhere how has a reach of over 30 million customers; about the same size as the population of Canada. We’re not disputing the fact that they are now technically the largest service provider in the UK, the numbers and statistics support this but, what we are struggling to get our heads around, is the name… Compared with the one or two syllable network provider names we’re used to, Everything Everywhere is quite a mouthful and a rather cumbersome moniker to have to repeat and frankly, sounds more like a company’s vision statement than a brand name.

Perhaps it’ll grow on us, but let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Ofcom has today announced plans to change the ‘mobile termination rates’ which, refers to the cost incurred when connecting to a mobile phone from another network or from a fixed landline. Currently the rates are set until 2011 but calls have been made to review this, once expired.

The current rate is set at around 4.3p with plans to drop this to as low as 0.5 p by 2015, which is excellent news for consumers given that Ofcom has said that “As rates fall and operators adapt, consumers will benefit from cheaper calls and competition in both the UK fixed telecoms and mobile markets.” It has been suggested that larger networks such as Vodafone, O2 and Orange/T-Mobile will be the only entities likely to object to these changes, but this is only down to the increased competition the lower charges will give to smaller operators whose user’s will spend more time on other networks and would therefore incur less charges with the new rate changes.

The good news doesn’t stop there however, it has also been decided that the current time allowance for a network to provide a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) is too long and it will soon be enforced that networks will have to issue the PAC immediately, or within two hours at maximum; by way of text message and the actual process of porting is also set to be sped up, moving from the current 48 hours to 24 hours. This will mean that, anyone wishing to port their current mobile phone number to another network, should technically be ble to do so within 24 hours of the inital PAC request.

The proposed partnership would result in the UK’s biggest network with almost 30 million subscriptions which makes for scary reading the UK’s other major networks.

Following the initial talks, Orange and T-Mobile then signed a contract agreement in November further cementing their commitment to the proposed merger. But, from here, it was out of T-Orange’s hands. The deal would need to be verified and approved by the European Commission meaning there was still a major hurdle to jump. Well scratch that as, on Monday, the European Commission gave the UK networks the green light for the proposed merger.

UK consumer groups including the Office of Fair Trading had voiced concerns that the merger would have a negative impact on competition but the Commission claimed that “the commitments offered by the parties remedy the identified competition concerns.”

So, what now? Well, a statement from Orange issued shortly after the European Commission’s announcement noted that Orange and T-Mobile would work on integrating their combined 19,000 workforce. Tom Alexander, currently CEO of Orange UK, will take the helm as Chief Executive whilst Richard Moat, currently CEO of T-Mobile UK, will take on the role of chief operating officer. The board of the new joint venture company will comprise representation from both Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom who own T-Mobile and Orange respectively.

But what does this mean to all you Orange and T-Mobile customers out there? Well, for the immediate future, not alot. It’s expected that the T-Mobile and Orange UK brands will continue to operate independently for at least eighteen months after the merger. Longer term, could we see the iPhone and Orange Wednesdays make the move over to T-Mobile customers? And most pressing of all, what new name, if any, will this new giant adopt? Our money’s on Orange-Mobile (sorry T-Orange) but what do you reckon? Let us know in the comments below and keep an eye on the blog for more news.
